New LED Church Sign

“They [ADvantageLED] were sensitive to our needs. They have a faith that helps to lead them and to lead churches to the right decision…and they have the patience.”

Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Houston Texas is the first African American Church established in Houston in 1866 by freed slaves who lived around the church. Pastor Otis B. Winkley, Jr. is proud to carry on the great heritage of this historic church and the awesome responsibility of ministering to the corporate community that now surrounds it. They want everyone to know that God loves them and the doors are always open.

In 2009, Antioch was looking for different ways of outreach knowing that after 146 years of ministry, they needed to take advantage of new technology. After seeing the success other churches had with church LED signs, Antioch decided to contact ADvantage LED to give the old church a modern method of communication.

The permitting and installation did not come easy, though, but ADvantage LED was with them throughout the entire process. It took almost three full years to acquire the necessary permitting, historical permission and the plot to erect the new sign. The original plot plans proved to be too old and the city used “eminent domain” to claim the plot of land where the church wanted to erect the sign. The church ultimately had to repurchase the plot in order to erect the sign and the city of Houston was very cooperative throughout the process.

Advantage LED Signs would like to congratulate Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in their resilience and ultimate success of the entire project. Advantage LED representative Katie Foreman attended the dedication ceremony along with people from the permit and zoning office who were proud to see the church’s new purchase.

Today, a brilliant full color church LED sign sits on the beautiful property that will become the extra voice and advantage the church needs to reach the community.

LED signs are quickly becoming a staple of many churches as a tool to reach out to their community, but churches are struggling with their local government’s permitting and zoning laws. ADvantage LED specializes in small to large scale church led signs providing a complete turn-key experience including working side-by-side with a church to address zoning and permitting with their local government.
