Moving to a virtual appliance delivery system continues our core mission to simplify change control for today’s large and complex systems.
Melbourne, AU (PRWEB) May 14, 2012
Revelation Software Concepts Pty Ltd (RSC), a pioneer and market leader in simplifying change control for SAP® software-based information systems, today announced a new delivery method for its Rev-Trac® Extension Package (RT-xPack). The new system utilizes a virtual appliance to streamline delivery, so that customers can easily “switch on” the extension package without being concerned about underlying prerequisites. The simple delivery system requires no underlying software, database or operating system versions and is maintenance-free.
“Moving to a virtual appliance delivery system continues our core mission to simplify change control for today’s large and complex systems,” said David Gordon, CIO at RSC. “It’s an extension of what we’ve done from the start: refine, simplify and automate change control for SAP software-based systems. The more we innovate, the more our customers realize greater system reliability, reduced risk, and a remarkably high ROI on their change control investments.”
RT-xPack expands Rev-Trac's reach and adds value by transforming Rev-Trac into a web application and by delivering powerful change control reporting. With RT-xPack installed, users do not have to start a Rev-Trac graphical UI session to access Rev-Trac, work with change transports, provide needed approvals or even request new changes.
Any browser that can run Java, including most found on mobile phones, PDAs or other web-enabled devices, can leverage RT-xPack to take advantage of such features as email approvals and remote change control reporting. These help managers make more effective and productive use of time.
To install the next version of RT-xPack, a user only presses a single control button inside the Salt virtual appliance (RSC’s change intelligence software). RT-xPack not only enables the web browser features but can also become the enabling gateway for several separately licensed, powerful capabilities:
- RT-xDeploy can associate any kind of non-ABAP® programming language-based software component with Rev-Trac change requests. Users can enforce and report on migration and deployment sequence dependencies between non-ABAP components and CTS transports, or between non-ABAP components.
- RT-OOPS+ extends Rev-Trac OOPS overwrite and overtake protection to non-ABAP changes, detecting and blocking collisions in non-ABAP changes before they occur. It also provides package viewing to analyze non-ABAP-based package contents.
Rick Porter, VP of Business Development, RSC notes, “The market is demanding faster and easier implementations with less trouble and greater integration between systems. Delivering RT-xPack via the maintenance-free virtual appliance achieves that goal and allows our customers to easily turn on powerful new capabilities as they need them.”
RT-xPack requires Rev-Trac 6 SPS 05 or later. For further information on Rev-Trac and its add-ons, extensions and other innovations for use with SAP software-based infrastructures, see http://www.xrsc.com.
