Leading Meteorologist Jerry Martz to Head Central Region Sales; Melissa Hilton to Focus on Digital Solutions

Weather Central LP, makers of the most viewed weather system in the world, today announced key hires had been made to enhance its on-air broadcast and digital sales teams. Meteorologist Jerry Martz joins Weather Central as regional sales manager for Weather Central’s newly defined central region. Melissa Hilton is now sales representative for the digital team at Weather Central, focused on helping clients build and develop their presence across web, mobile and social media platforms.

Jerry Martz is the former chief meteorologist at WSYX-TV in Columbus, OH. He brings more than 19 years on-air weather experience in markets of different sizes including Steubenville/Wheeling, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pittsburgh and Columbus. Jerry has strong ties to broadcast meteorologists and news management throughout the country. He is a member and Certified Broadcast Meteorologist with the American Meteorological Society, as well as a seal holder of the National Weather Association. He is a trained Skywarn Observer and has also taught introductory meteorology for over 8 years, including 5 at Penn State.

Melissa Hilton is a specialist in digital media and multiplatform brand development. She comes to Weather Central from Bahakel Communications/WCCB-TV in Charlotte, NC where she developed and sold digital solutions and campaigns that strategically integrated social media, online display, mobile platforms, and on air television. She also draws on experience at Barrington Broadcasting’s KXRM-TV, E.W. Scripps Co.’s KNXV TV, FOX Entertainment’s KSAZ-TV, New Northwest Broadcaster and Clear Channel Radio.
