For the second year in a row, Keil Lasik Vision Center of Grand Rapids Michigan has given a donation on behalf of their “Gift of Sight” promotion. Dr. Keil made a donation for every patient who received a free Lasik exam with him during December 2011. The donation went to Mercy Ships who travels around the world helping those less fortunate and allowing them to receive cataract surgery.

Dr. Keil Makes another generous donation to Mercy Ships

Globally, billions of people live with inadequate food and water, with little or no access to health care. This is where Mercy Ships comes in, to give help to those that need help the most.

Mercy Ships is a global charity that operates hospital ships bringing hope and healing to the forgotten poor in developing nations. It was started in 1978 and based their organization on serving all people without regard for race, gender, or religion. The ships have a variety of different crew members from experienced medical professionals to volunteers. Anyone can volunteer on a ship for the duration of two weeks up to two years depending on the position held.

According to the National Eye Institute of Health over 50% of all Americans either have or have had cataract surgery by the age of 80. Dr Keil realized the problems that cataracts can cause and wants you to help join the cause and give the gift of sight.
