Tampa, Florida (PRWEB) May 11, 2012
The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A. is a sponsor of the 2012 Miles for Moffitt 5K Run/Walk on May 12, 2012. Richard C. McCrea Jr., a shareholder in the firm’s Tampa office, has served as Vice Chair of the Miles for Moffitt Board since the first Miles for Moffitt event in 2006. The goal of the race is to raise funds for cancer research and to increase awareness of the importance of the cancer research conducted at Moffitt Cancer Center.
Miles for Moffitt will take place at the Sun Dome on the campus of the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa. This year’s event is expected to attract more than 6,500 participants. Participants may choose to run or walk in the 5 mile, 5K, or One Mile Fun Run/Walk. There will also be a Competitive Wheelchair 5-Mile.
Greenberg Traurig was the presenting sponsor of the ULTRA Miles for Moffitt 12-Hour Endurance Run held at USF on April 21 and 22, 2012. The ULTRA has attracted runners from all over the United States.
“I am honored to be a part of Miles for Moffitt. Every dollar raised goes directly to cancer research at Moffitt. Last year the event raised $250,000. It has been gratifying to watch this event get bigger and more popular each year,” McCrea said.
Moffitt Cancer Center is the only Florida-based center with the National Cancer Institute designation as a Comprehensive Cancer Center for its excellence in research and contributions to clinical trials, cancer prevention, and cancer control. Moffitt currently has fourteen affiliates in Florida, one in Georgia, and one in Pennsylvania. Miles for Moffitt is a 501(c)(3) entity.
