Botanicare, a leading global manufacturer in the hydroponics industry, announced today that Adam Sharp has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) by its Board of Directors. Sharp, former Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Botanicare will assume the role held by Sheldon Harris, former President of Cold Stone Creamery. Harris was brought on by the Board of Directors to prepare Adam for the role of CEO a little over a year ago.
Adam Sharp has served as Senior Executive Vice President, Vice President of Operations and Chief Operating Officer of Botanicare since January 2009. Adam began his career at Botanicare as Warehouse Manager in 2001, shortly after receiving his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from the University of Arizona. Adam went on to receive his MBA from the University of Phoenix in 2008.
“I am tremendously excited about this opportunity, we’ve assembled a great team and the organization is executing extremely well. The Board has made a significant investment in the future of Botanicare, as well as my own development, by bringing on Sheldon who helped identify some changes that were needed and made it possible for this transition to occur,” said Mr. Sharp.
With the substantial growth Botanicare has experienced the past few years the Board brought on Sheldon Harris in February 2011 as CEO to mentor Adam Sharp and prepare him to take on the position of CEO. “Adam has proven himself as the ideal choice to lead the company to the next level” said Treg Bradley, Founder and Chairman of the Board for Botanicare. “Adam has a solid understanding of our products and market,” says Bradley. “He has strong leadership skills and industry expertise necessary to take advantage of the market opportunities ahead.”
“Adam is an outstanding leader and is ideally suited to lead Botanicare into the future,” said Sheldon Harris.
Speaking on behalf of the board, Treg Bradley said, “We very much appreciate Sheldon’s contribution to Botanicare’s success over the past year. He clearly accomplished what he was tasked to do and has put Botanicare on a path to deliver improved execution and financial performance. Sheldon has been a great resource to Botanicare and we will continue to work with him on an advisory basis going forward,” says Bradley.
