Schulte Sports Marketing & Public Relations, Inc. announced today that 1968 USA Olympic Gold Medal winner Bob Beamon will join its current roster of clients for marketing, licensing, endorsements, corporate appearances and public relations effective immediately.
Born in South Jamaica, Queens, Bob was raised by his grandmother in a tough neighborhood. Beamon turned his attention to sports and his energy on positive goals. As a high school athlete, Bob earned All-American track & field honors. He went on to attend North Carolina A&T and then transferred to one of the most prominent college track & field teams at the University of Texas-El Paso.
“We are excited to have Olympic Hall of Famer Bob Beamon join our team,” said Ray Schulte, CEO / President of Schulte Sports. “Bob is an iconic athlete who overcame tremendous odds to win an Olympic Gold Medal and become a successful entrepreneur and community advocate.”
In 1968, Bob won the Gold Medal at the Olympic Games in Mexico City. With a long jump of 29ft and 2 1/2 inches, Bob annihilated the previous World and Olympic records and immortalized himself in sports history. Bob shattered the former record by 2 feet.
Bob Beamon’s post-Olympic experiences are highlighted by personal accomplishments off the track. He turned his Olympic success into a series of individual triumphs including earning a public relations degree from Adelphi University. Bob was elected to the USA Track & Field Hall of Fame in 1977, and then inducted into the United States Olympic Hall of Fame in 1983.
“I’m looking forward to working with the team at Schulte Sports Marketing & Public Relations,” said Beamon. “Their knowledge, experience and skills in building personal and business relationships will be invaluable to me going forward.”
Today, Bob serves as CEO of Art of the Olympians Foundation, Inc., a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization, headquartered in Ft Myers, FL., dedicated to inspiring change through an international program of art, education and outreach initiatives.
