In Loni Friddle’s new book, a granddaughter produces her dead grandfather’s book

In her novel “And When I Die” (published by iUniverse), author Loni Friddle offers readers the story of Pia and her granddaughter, Summer.

Pia is left with nothing but her late husband’s secret, unfinished manuscript. The greatest challenge to her beliefs comes from the strange behavior of her granddaughter, Summer.

An excerpt from “And When I Die”:

“Pia sunk into her chair and thought about this for a long time. She recalled the conversation with her daughter last night. Suddenly, she bolted up from her chair.

‘One Child Born!,’ she screamed to an empty house. After rifling through numerous papers on her desk, she found what it was she was looking for. According to some Buddhist thinking, at the death of one personality, a new one comes into being, much as the flame of a dying candle can serve to light the flame of another.”

Summer has always reminded Pia of Hugh. She acts like her late grandfather, but the similarities become significant when Summer wins the Nobel Prize in Literature for the book written by her grandfather – a book she should never have known about.

Could Summer be the reincarnation of Hugh? Could he be communicating with her from [beyond the grave? These are the questions Pia must answer to find peace in “And When I Die.”
