The focus of release 5.0 is native Unified Communications and Collaboration (UCC) with a seamless integration of the Aastra BluStar™ ecosystem. Aastra has been extending its BluStar portfolio, which includes the 8000i Media Phone, PC, iPad and iPhone clients, creating a complete ecosystem with HD video conferencing at its heart.
Aastra’s BluStar ecosystem embraces trends such as Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) with the increased use of smartphones and tablets in the workplace. The Aastra BluStar for PC delivers HD audio and HD video as well as other UC features from a single client. The user will experience an intuitive tool that unifies voice communications with video, instant messaging, directory look-up, flexible search options and conferencing and can choose preferred communications channel depending on situation, even remotely outside the corporate network.

Aastra has focused on consolidating the number of servers and limiting the number of physical servers necessary for both the call manager and Unified Communications application servers. The integration focuses on VMware® as the hypervisor technology and supports VMware value added features such as High Availability (HA) or Fault Tolerance (FT). The MX-ONE 5.0 solution is also “cloud ready”, ideal for those wishing to create a private cloud architecture within their virtualized environments and new business models.
