Viña Montes launches “Angels in Action” program asking wine lovers to pay it forward

Viña Montes is inviting Angelenos to bring their appetites for charity, as well as good food and wine, to the launch of the Angels in Action campaign supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF). Viña Montes, known as a pioneer of premium Chilean wines, is hosting a one-night-only Pop-up Tasting Room on Thursday, June 7 from 7:00-10:00p at Downtown LA’s Urbano Pizza Bar to kick off the six-month campaign. Winemaker Aurelio Montes will personally attend the Pop-Up event and pour some of his top selections, including the renowned Montes “M,” which retails for $90.

“I am very excited to launch this fundraising program supporting CFF, as it’s an extension of what we call ‘the spirit of Montes,’ ” explains Aurelio Montes. “Our philosophy has always been to be a force for good--which is why the Montes logo is an angel. We believe that every person can be an ‘angel in action,’ someone who does small acts every day to help others. We do this at the winery through our sustainability and education programs, and now we are taking the message to our fans in the U.S. and asking them to pay it forward.”

Admission to the Pop-up Tasting Room is just $39 per person and includes bountiful food and tastings of Montes wines, including the just-released premium red blend “Twins,” which features a label designed by artist Ralph Steadman. Among the dishes from Urbano Pizza Bar will be their most popular signature menu items, as well as the latest creations from Executive Chef Bruce Kalman, such as:

  • Crispy pork belly skewers with mustard, maple and lime
  • Duck confit club sliders
  • Farmer's market vegetable antipasti
  • House-made mozzarella on crostini with piquillo peppers
  • Spring onion confit tartlet with braised oxtail paprikash
