Fabri-Kal, the seventh largest plastic thermoformer in North America, previously installed an analog video surveillance system at one of their manufacturing facilities to monitor and mitigate problematic employee conduct. The initial surveillance installation included analog cameras and numerous costly DVR components that were unmanageable with existing internal resources.
The common perception of a high upfront investment initially deterred Fabri-Kal from considering an analog to IP conversion. As Fabri-Kal’s surveillance woes intensified, they reevaluated their security strategy and exposed analog’s many shortcomings, both in total cost of ownership and performance. Moving from an analog system to a digital system was a clear and simple decision for Fabri-Kal; for the cost of just a memory upgrade and external storage array, they were able to make the upgrade using their existing server.
Fabri-Kal was immediately attracted to ipConfigure because of its competitive pricing. While Enterprise Surveillance Manager (ESM) is a more affordable solution, Frank Pangonis, Fabri-Kal IT Department, also notes that ESM “out-trumps every other manufacturer on features, usability, dependability, and ease of implementation… all in a simple browser-based solution that requires NO client-server software deployment.” Another attribute that sealed the deal for Fabri-Kal was ipConfigure’s responsive and professional support team. Pangonis remarked: “Contacting the support team is wonderfully simple. If it were any easier, I would have to add them to our payroll!”
