In his provocative and insightful new book, “A Place to Belong: Spiritual Renewal For Our Time” (published by Trafford Publishing), author Robert A. Williams deals with guilt, grace, forgiveness, love and – in a most significant way – the Church, as it is and as it can be.
Through personal insight and research, Williams delivers a penetrating analysis of man’s relationship with God and all the nuances therein. He calls God’s people back to their role in the Church as the body of Christ extended into the world. Renewed life, renewed vision, renewed hope for persons who need the redemption of Christ for their fulfillment—these are the earmarks of spiritual renewal set forth in “A Place to Belong.”
It is Williams’ conviction that everyone is looking for a place where they feel they belong, where they know they are accepted for their own personal worth, and where they can begin to contribute something of their own gifts and expression of life. The Church must become a vital koinonia, that is, a dynamic center of a shared life of caring and ministry that offers a place to belong for the world. Williams, accordingly, concludes, “The real hope for the church today will lie in its ability to offer a new quality of relationship to this generation. Whatever else the relationship will be it will have to be as explosive as the one Christ offered His generation.”
Based on biblical principles of renewal, “A Place to Belong” adds the touch of the personal; it is not just another theological treatise but a theme written from experience that helps to point the way for a revolution and change in people’s lives.
Featuring a foreword by Dr. Cecil G. Osborne, “A Place to Belong” pays homage to Williams’ background as a pastor and teacher. In its original edition, it received words of appreciation from the imminent Swiss psychiatrist, Paul Tournier, from noted pastors and seminary professors, as well as Christian laymen among its readership.
