This June Pure Board Shop will be having their first contest of the year and as usual all the local skaters are getting psyched. "We always get a good turn out for the contests we throw. All the locals seem to really like it, they get to skate with a bunch of people and maybe win some product," says Josh Menocal, manager at Pure Board Shop.

Pure started doing contests a couple years after they opened in 2006 and it seems each year more and more people show up and the contest sponsors get bigger and bigger. "Each time we throw a contest we contact some companies to send us some product so we can have prizes for the winners, the skate companies are always super generous with sending us product. We've had a lot of different contest sponsors over the years since we've started. We've gotten product from Enjoi, Real Skateboards, Thunder Trucks, Adidas, and Globe Footwear. For this contest Dwindle is probably gonna be our main sponsor," Josh informs us.

The first contest of every year is usually thrown sometime in June, then after that there is usually one contest a month until October. The contest is broken up into three categories, beginner, intermediate, and advanced . At the end of each contest there is a cookout back at the shop and also, the top three competitors of every division are rewarded with prizes from the contest sponsors. This contest will be a bit different though. Not only will there be a cookout and rewards ceremony back at the shop but after the contest Pure will also be premiering Almost Skateboards' new video, "5-Incher." A trailer was just released for "5-Incher" about a month ago and it seems that the locals are excited about this new video as well as Pure's next contest which will take place on June 3.
