Chelmsford, Mass. (PRWEB) May 16, 2012
Arbor Networks, Inc., a leading provider of security and network management solutions for enterprise and service provider networks, will be participating at this year’s NCTA Cable Show in Boston on May 23. Arbor Networks will give insight on how it’s been helping Comcast prepare for, and manage the transition to IPv6 for the last several years.
WHO: Carlos Morales, Vice President, Systems Engineering and Sales Operations at Arbor Networks
WHAT: Morales will present on a panel moderated by Charlotte Field, Senior Vice President, National Communications Engineering at Comcast Cable. Other panelists include Don Bowman, CTO, Sandvine; Martin Hannigan, Senior Architect, Akamai Technologies, Inc.; Walter Johnson, Chief, Electromagnetic Compatibility Division, Federal Communications Commission; and Doug Montgomery, Manager, Internet & Scalable Systems Research, NIST. The session, IPv6 03- Keeping Tabs: Measurement and Benchmarking IPv6, underscores the importance of measurements and benchmarking specific to IPv6 and the tools and methodologies that are actively used today.
Comcast uses Arbor’s technology to gain visibility into the ever-changing and dynamic IPv6 landscape. Arbor provides IPv6 traffic monitoring and reporting, and analyzes IP flow data to detect and mitigate distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. In fact, the first-ever IPv6 DDoS attacks were reported last year according to Arbor’s annual Worldwide Infrastructure Security Report. This marks a significant milestone in the arms race between attackers and defenders, and confirms that network operators must have sufficient visibility and mitigation capabilities to protect IPv6-enabled properties.
