San Jose, California (PRWEB) May 16, 2012
Grocery workers and their community and political allies will be getting on buses and making delegations to management at 24 markets from Vacaville to Salinas. After taking a strike vote at Raley’s-Nob Hill, which passed overwhelmingly, grocery workers and their allies are taking their message in support of a good contract directly to the stores and in the case of Safeway, headquarters. The demand is simple: they want a contract that provides for good jobs and affordable health care for them and their families and retired members.
The press is welcome to ride along or meet delegations at any stop. Please contact Mike Henneberry at 510-719-7691 for a list of times and locations where the delegations will take place.
At the conclusion of the store visits the buses will converge at Plaza de Cesar Chavez park in downtown San Jose for a mass rally to emphasize that the time for a new grocery contract is now. The rally will be held jointly with AT&T workers and janitors.
