HighPoint and its client, BCBS Michigan, recognized for Innovative Use of Informatica MDM Hub for ICD-10 Compliance.

HighPoint Solutions (HighPoint), a premier provider of specialized management and technology services dedicated to the life sciences and healthcare industries, announced today that it has won a 2012 Informatica Innovation Award. These awards, given out at Informatica World 2012, acknowledge innovative organizations that have achieved outstanding results through their use of the Informatica Platform.

HighPoint and its client, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, were recognized in the “Delivering Trusted Information to Drive Data Governance, Compliance and Reduce Risk” category for their use of the Informatica Master Data Management (MDM) Hub to achieve ICD-10 compliance while benefiting from the transition to this new code set. In using MDM for disease and procedure codes, BCBS Michigan is pioneering a new use case for MDM in the healthcare market, which traditionally uses MDM only for master patient indexes.

HighPoint Solutions’ ICD-10 Appliance is instrumental in helping BCBSM meet the ICD-10 requirements and in evolving the "BlueGEMS," BCBSM's improvement to the CMS GEMS mappings, which are being made available to other health plans. The ICD-10 Appliance is a master data management solution that helps healthcare payers and providers implement and comply with ICD-10. It is deployed on top of the Informatica Master Data Management Hub, a single platform approach to multi-domain MDM and an ideal platform for creating a single version of the truth for ICD-9/ICD-10 codes, mappings, translations, and business rules that can be utilized by all applications and processes.
