For far too long, location-based applications have not been properly utilizing data and context in order to create truly compelling experiences.
Portland, OR (PRWEB) May 17, 2012
White Horse CTO Joe Davis will present a session at PDX Webvisions 2012 entitled, “Location, Location, Location—What Are We Forgetting??” Although many mobile sites and apps are now using location-aware features, Davis will discuss the world of largely untapped options, as well as their creative business uses.
Davis’ presentation will explore how latitude and longitude can be combined with time of day, sunrise/sunset calculations, weather reports, phases of the moon, alignment of the planets, biorhythmic patterns, proximity to family and friends, etc., in order to generate meaningful “lifestyle” applications and immersive gaming experiences.
“In the mobile age, awesome-ness occurs at the junction of technology, data, and context,” said Davis. “For far too long, location-based applications have not been properly utilizing data and context in order to create truly compelling experiences.”
Joe Davis is CTO and Technical Director at White Horse. He has spent the last decade and a half challenging the web to do more, do it faster, and make it more meaningful. He has worked on projects for companies such as Microsoft, Intel, and Coldwater Creek. His presentation of “Location, Location, Location—What Are We Forgetting??” will be at Friday, May 18, 2012, 1:30pm, room D137/138 at PDX Webvisions.
