The Festival Manager of the 2012 Denmark Festival of Voice has announced that the annual event in Denmark will be on the 1st to 3rd of June. This event is to be attended by numerous performers and thousands of music enthusiasts around the globe.
According to the festival’s organisers, the purpose of the event is to celebrate the power and beauty of the human voice, made particularly possible through community singing. Numerous activities are lined up for the festival like performances by different soloists, choirs and groups, as well as an extensive array of workshops in order to further strengthen the core purpose of the festival.
Among the performers for the event will be Aluka, which hails from Melbourne, Australia. This renowned group is known for its beautiful a cappella renditions, and the constant reinvention of its music that does not make use of any instruments, but plainly using just their individual voices.
Stephen Taberner, one of the top choir leaders and performers in the country, is also set to grace the festival, along with his protégés, the Spooky Men of the West. Taberner will also be among the speakers and trainers in the workshops for the event. He will also be the speaker for the Choir Leader Master Class, to be held the Monday 4th June immediately after the festival.
The other choirs who will be providing music for the festival are, Cleanskins, A Kappella Munda, Madjitil Moorna, The Gay and Lesbian Singers of WA, Bunbury Men of Song, Madjitil Moorna and The Real Sing. Local choirs will also have a part of the festivities as well – such as, Something In the Air, Eklektika, Cantare, SeeTB, Louise McKenna with Southern Skylarks and many others.
Soloists will also grace the event like Gina Writer, known for her soul-lifting style, Rory Faithfield, who is just coming home from a stint in Ireland and bringing her beautifully crafted music into the fray, and Valanga Khoza who is set to mesmerise her audience with her South African-style of music, storytelling and rhythm.
