After establishing themselves as one of the first online suppliers of animal health and flea prevention products, social networking has somewhat passed them by over the last few years. Using social media to promote products and services is a trend that has exploded in recent times, with businesses up and down the country following this modern development. PetFleas felt it vital they do the same and raise the profile of pet health on social networks.
The suppliers of Frontline for Cats and Frontline for Dogs have launched their own Facebook and Twitter campaigns to help achieve the social media conquest. The Facebook page on its own has received much attention in a short space of time since the launch, achieving 350 likes already. The page itself is relatively simple, relaxed and browsing through the posts is an enjoyable experience. The posts mainly consist of various stories, pet advice, tips and news snippets surrounding animal stories. Largely centred on cats and dogs, the posts offer advice on flea prevention with recommendations for their Frontline flea deterrence range.
The Twitter account PetFleas created almost reached 200 followers within the first month, with regular updates posted all of the time. The topic of Tweets in recent weeks has been mainly centred on Pudsey, the Britain’s Got Talent pooch worth half-a-million pound. This light and friendly approach to interacting with potential customers has appealed to animal lovers up and down the country.
At the moment, the team behind PetFleas’ social media campaign are currently working on a Facebook feature that allows followers to nominate their pets for the ‘Pet of the Month’ award. The winner will have their pet’s photograph featured in the Facebook page cover for the whole of that month. Managing Director Mark Proctor is extremely happy with the start they have made to their social media conquest.

The Cheshire based online company has also launched a brand new blog page on their website, focussing on pet health and advice. The blogs loaded so far mainly focus on flea and worming treatment in pets, although other information and products are available. A new addition to the blog is added every week, with particular attention being paid to their most popular products, including Frontline for Dogs. The blogs include tips and advice on how to treat and avoid fleas with pets at home.
So from being one of the first online providers of animal health products and services, PetFleas is now looking forward to exploiting the social media universe. Everyone involved with the company is confident the reaction will be very positive.
