Door to Door Storage, Inc. is sending a shipment of care packages to troops in appreciation for the service and sacrifices made by United States armed forces and in recognition of Memorial Day. A part of the “Door to Door™ Cares: Supporting Our Troops” program, employees of the portable storage company gather and ship items to military personnel—and have been doing so since 2009.

“The entire Door to Door team is committed to this effort,” said Tracey Kelly, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Door to Door Storage®. “We are incredibly grateful to our armed forces and especially with the Memorial Day holiday, want to show them how much we appreciate their sacrifices.”

To date, employees have filled and shipped more than 40 APO cases filled with a variety of familiar comforts from home that have ranged from Xbox 360 and PlayStation® games, Starbucks Via®, powder drinks, protein bars to personal luxury items. Each shipment has also been accompanied by letters and cards created by the children of Door to Door employees to encourage and thank members of the military for their service and dedication. Employees take pride in participation and the opportunity to show support for the troops.

“It is not only inspiring for us, but a tangible way to show appreciation for those serving,” said Robert Hall, Door to Door National Sales Manager. “We have all become far more aware of the conditions that our troops operate in and knowing that we’re helping them brings new meaning to our daily activities.”

Door to Door’s efforts were recently recognized with a formal letter of appreciation from the members of the White Falcon 2/325 AIR 82nd Airborne Division for providing care packages to U.S. military troops stationed overseas in war-torn Afghanistan and Iraq. A formal thank you letter was sent by Sergeant and EVAC Team Leader John F. Gagnier from Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 2nd Battalion, 325th AIR, 82nd Airborne Division located in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The letter was accompanied by photos of paratroopers in the platoon along with a signed and framed photo of the medical team and the 4th platoon Delta Company.

“Memorial Day is a time to remember and honor the U.S. men and women killed or missing in action. We owe them a debt that can never be repaid and encourage others to join with us to remember and honor veterans and those who are currently serving in the military,” said Kelly.
