Wine Blog Awards Accepting Nominations for Best Wine Bloggers

The call for nominations in nine categories for the 6th Annual Wine Blog Awards opened today. The Wine Blog Awards seek to recognize the best in the growing field of wine blogging.

The Wine Blog Awards have become an important source for discovering and honoring outstanding wine bloggers.

The 6th Annual Wine Blog Awards will begin taking nominations in nine categories today as the most talented English language wine bloggers are again being sought out for recognition. The Wine Blog Awards are a celebration of the unique voice of wine bloggers and honor the best in writing, wine reviewing, winery blogging, wine photography and videography from across the blogging spectrum. Nominations will be taken from the public through May 30, after which a panel of judges will narrow the nominations to 5 finalists in each category.

“Over the past five years, the Wine Blog Awards have become an important source for discovering and honoring outstanding wine bloggers and a coveted form of recognition within the wine blogging community,” explained Joel Vincent, the Wine Blog Awards administrator. “We hope to once again receive submissions from wine lovers, bloggers and readers from across the world that identify the best new and established wine bloggers.”

The 2012 Wine Blog Awards are organized by Vincent and Zephyr Adventures, the producers of the annual Wine Bloggers Conference. After finalists are determined and voting for the top blogs is undertaken, the Awards will be presented at the 2012 Wine Bloggers Conference in Portland on August 18th. Mutineer Magazine is sponsoring the 2012 Wine Blog Awards and will oversee the presentation in Portland at the Wine Bloggers Conference.

A new award category has been added for the 2012 Wine Blog Awards: Best Blog Post. The new category will honor the best single blog post of the year for the quality of the writing, originality, insight and expression of the unique voice of the blogger.

The categories for which awards will be given include:

Best Writing
Best Photography or Video on a Wine Blog
Best Wine Reviews
Best Wine Business Blog
Best Winery Blog
Best Single Subject Wine Blog
Best Overall Wine Blog
Best Post of the Year

The wine blogging community has expanded considerably over the past decade, with more than 1000 English language wine blogs from around the world. Wine Bloggers have become a significant source of wine information, education, news and commentary.
