Scott Tucker, Cornell's Director of Choral Music is leading the Glee club into one final competition before leaving later this year according to musicloversblog.com who have been following the story. In March it was announced that Tucker would be replacing Norman Scribner as the new Artistic Director at the Choral Arts Society. Before he leaves his post at Cornell Tucker will be heading to Wales in July where Cornell's Glee club will be competing in the Llangollen International Music Eisteddfod.
Every summer since 1947 the rolling valleys of rural Wales come alive for one of the world's premier cultural festivals. In early July Cornell's Glee club will be joining 4,000 musicians, singers and dancers for the 66th annual Llangollen International Music Eisteddfod. The highlight of the five day musical festival is competition for the Pavarotti Trophy.
Scott Tucker and the Cornell Glee club will be hoping they can join the winners of the major choral competitions who will get the chance to compete for the prestigious Pavarotti Trophy. The appearance at the Llangollen International Music Eisteddfod is part of a wider two week tour of the United Kingdom. Scott Tucker and the Glee Club are performing in New York City on June 30 before flying to London.
When they get to the U.K. the Glee club have concerts scheduled in England, Scotland and Wales. In addition to the Llangollen International Music Eisteddfod in Wales performances are booked for in the English cities of London, Torquay, and York. The concert in York is taking place in the world famous York Minster. In Scotland they will be performing in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberlour. Scott Tucker will be leaving his position in September to become the new Choral Arts Director at the Washington DC based Choral Arts Society.
