Growing North Bay Job Market Sparks Nelson Expansion

Amid growing demand for labor and increased optimism among North Bay executives, Nelson is moving forward with plans to expand staff and open a new, larger office in Santa Rosa.

Nelson announced today significant growth in North Bay revenues for the first quarter of 2012 amid growing demand for labor and increased optimism among North Bay executives. Led by Nelson & Associates, the finance and accounting arm of Nelson, which showed over 20% growth in the first quarter compared to 12% growth in the staffing industry, Nelson is moving forward with plans to expand staff and open a new, larger office in Santa Rosa—an office that is expected to generate in excess of 12 million dollars in revenue.

“The new office will allow us to consolidate our business units under one roof and better coordinate our services as the job market grows,” said CEO Craig S. Nelson. “We are known for consistently delivering a high level of customer service and this consolidated office will only enhance our ability to meet our clients’ and candidates’ needs. We’re excited to expand our staff as jobs return to the area. Trends indicate that North Bay growth will be driven by expansion in high tech, engineering, wine, hospitality, real estate, and professional services.”

The Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates employment growth of 18,000 jobs in Northern California from 2010 to 2011 in Professional and Business Services, which they define as “professional, scientific, technical, management, and administrative support services.” To meet the increased demand in the North Bay, Nelson has already hired new recruiters with finance and accounting acumen to knowledgeably fill finance positions.

Robert Eyler, professor of Economics and Director of the Center for Regional Economic Analysis, predicts “Marin and Napa counties are on track to be the shining stars of economic recovery in the six-county North Bay Area in 2012.” When asked which industries would likely experience growth this year, Eyler responded, “I expect to see growth in professional services firms and the wine industry.”

Nelson’s Wine & Beverage division has seen steady growth and is actively placing workers in bottling and production positions as well as winemaking, marketing, hospitality, and executive-level spots. All divisions continue to serve a bevy of companies and candidates in the region and expect Northern California to be a major area of focus as teams expand their specialty offerings.
