Scott Tucker and Level 5 Motorsports last weekend announced their 3rd successive win of the 2012 ALMS season. The endurance racing team have began the defense of their American Le Mans Series P2 championship in fine style by winning the first three races of the new season. The P2 class victory at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Monterey, CA. last week was preceded by P2 class wins in the season opening 12 Hours of Sebring and the Long Beach Grand Prix.

The Level 5 Motorsports' #95 HPD-ARX-03b car finished the 6 hour endurance race in second place overall behind the more powerful P1 class #6 car driven by Muscle Milk Pickett's Lucas Luhr and Klaus Graf. The Level 5 entry driven by Scott Tucker, Luis Diaz and Franck Montagny was only three laps behind the Muscle Milk entry despite the obvious difference in power.

The closest challengers to the Level 5 entry was the Conquest Endurance entry driven by Martin Plowman and David Heinemeier-Hansson. Although the Conquest Endurance car pushed the Level 5 car hard for the majority of the race they couldn't find a way past. Franck Montagny, Level 5's new driver posted the fastest P2 lap time of the race in the closing stages of the race to ensure the Level 5 entry held on to claim the P2 class win.

The win at Laguna Seca has helped Scott Tucker open up an 8 point lead in the ALMS P2 driver's standings. The ALMS schedule takes a break in June for the world famous Le Mans 24 hour race in France. The next ALMS race is the American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix from Lime Rock, CT. in early July. Scott Tucker and Level 5 Motorsports will be aiming for another P2 class victory there to keep the defense of their championship on course.
