Alonso Krangle LLP, a national law firm focused on fighting for children injured by toys and child products, have filed two Magnetix lawsuits on behalf of children from Nevada and Washington who were allegedly injured by Magnetix toys and products marketed by MEGA Brands of America Inc. Both Magnetix lawsuits were filed in the Superior Court of California, County of Orange and name MEGA Brands of America as a Defendant (Case No. 30-2012-568280 & Case No. 30-2012-568300 ).

Magnetix are magnet toy building sets that consist of component parts and appurtenances for use with Magnetix toys and products.

The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) issued two recalls of Magnetix toy sets in March 2006 and April 2007. The CPSC and MEGA Brands were aware of one death, one aspiration and 27 intestinal injuries associated with Magnetix products. Emergency surgical intervention was needed in all but one case. At least 1,500 incidents of magnets separating from the building pieces had been reported as of that date. Although the hazard was initially thought to be a problem primarily for children younger than six, the CPSC later learned that at least ten injuries involved children between the ages of 6 and 11 years old.
