James Scott Stevenson, Esq. President and General Counsel for Northwest Title a Columbus-based title company, is a 1995 graduate of Capital Law School and a certified continuing education instructor who teaches courses on minimizing risk in short sales to Ohio real estate professionals. Stevenson was nominated for the Joe Casa Award for Innovation for his efforts in developing The Short Sale Solution, a comprehensive solution for homeowners in need of assistance.

The first annual Joe Casa Awards for Leadership, Innovation and Philanthropy will be awarded June 12 in Cleveland at the National Settlement Services and Compliance Summit. The awards are offered in honor of the late Joe Casa, founder of October Research LLC. October Research LLC is the nation’s leading provider of market intelligence, industry news and regulatory information for professionals in the real estate, settlement services and mortgage industries and publisher of The Title Report, the Dodd Frank Update, and RESPA News.

The prestigious Joe Casa awards recognize professional achievement in the mortgage and settlement services industries. Stevenson’s efforts in developing The Short Sale Solution earned him the nomination. The Short Sale Solution is an alliance of Madison & Rosan LLP, Superior Real Estate Advisors, and Northwest Title to offer comprehensive guidance and professional support to homeowners throughout the short sale process. The goal of The Short Sale Solution is to protect the seller and ensure a successful closing.

The Short Sale Solution provides an innovative and desperately needed solution to Ohio homeowners by simplifying the process and minimizing the risk to the property owner. “Time-consuming and complicated paperwork overwhelm homeowners who are already struggling with upside-down mortgages and the threat of foreclosure,” explains Stevenson. “The Short Sale Solution makes navigating the many steps required to successfully complete a short sale more efficient and cost-effective while minimizing risk.”

Stevenson worked tirelessly to develop The Short Sale Solution after seeing clients, colleagues, and homeowners become frustrated by a process that was intended to ease the pain of losing a home. “I am deeply honored to be considered among the distinguished finalists for the Joe Casa Award for Innovation,” Stevenson announced. “This nomination validates our efforts. We have truly created a solution for the industry and consumers alike.”
