“We wanted to upgrade our technology and reduce the need for paper and toner to make scanning more economical,” said Arthur Smith, department head for the Royal Ontario Museum Library and Archives. “The greatest benefit has been its ease of use. The general public has had a very easy time using the new book scanner.”

The Royal Ontario Museum is affiliated with the University of Toronto library system and university faculty and students also benefit from the Book2net Spirit, which can help museums and libraries save time, money and energy while reducing environment footprint by eliminating the need for photocopiers, paper and toner.

“We are thrilled to work with the premier museum in Ontario and to make scanning simpler, faster and greener for their patrons and staff,” said Robb Richardson, president, Ristech Company Inc. “The first digital book scanner designed for public use, the Book2net Spirit continues to garner high praise from users throughout North America and across the globe.”

Among the world’s leading museums of natural history and world cultures, the Royal Ontario Museum’s mission is to engage the public in exploration of culture change and to serve as an advocate for science in the study of nature. The museum opened in 1914 and welcomes more than one million visitors each year.
