Haystak Digital Marketing, one of North America's largest automotive digital marketing agencies, recently held the automotive industry’s most elite digital learning event of 2012, the Digital Summit at Mountain View, hosted at Google headquarters. The three day event, which was free to participants and sponsored by Haystak Digital Marketing, was held earlier in May. The Summit included a select group of dealers from around the nation, world-class speakers, tours of Google and networking opportunities for participants. Overall, the Digital Summit at Mountain View provided valuable insight to the most effective, leading-edge digital marketing strategies and tactics.
Over 700 leading dealers requested to attend the event and 120 were selected to participate in this invitation only summit. Headlining speakers included Guy Kawasaki who discussed using "enchantment" to connect with people, Grant Cardone who described how to reinvent the sales process and Todd Rowe who provided the opening remarks. Sessions included all relevant digital marketing topics such as maximizing the new sales funnel, increasing website conversion, online video best practices, leveraging automotive SEM and understanding consumer attitude toward mobile marketing. The Digital Summit at Mountain View also included social events at Tide House Brewery and Zibibbo restaurants, a guided Google campus tour and visit to the Google store.
"The Digital Summit at Mountain View was excellent,” said Asbury Automotive Group's national digital marketing manager, Aaron Baldwin. “Hearing Google’s perspective on market trends, direction and newly-available products is a huge benefit to any business. Combining that with industry-specific presentations tied it all back to retail automotive and provided priceless industry-specific meaning.”
Additional speakers included Nicholas Boos, Surojit Chatterjee, Jonika Hoomes, Lauren Kelly and Sebastien Missoffe of Google, Jason Ezell of Dataium, Jeff Kershner of DealerRefresh, Amir Rezvanni of DealerOn and Duncan Scarry of Haystak Digital Marketing. Sessions were kept to a maximum of 45 minutes to keep a rapid, engaging pace and impart as much knowledge as possible. Further, all sessions focused on actionable take-aways that dealers can implement immediately. In addition to Haystak Digital Marketing, Digital Summit sponsors included DealerOn, DealerRefresh, Edmunds.com, Kenshoo Local and Moore & Scarry Advertising.
Attendee Kevin Frye, eCommerce director for Jeff Wyler Automotive Family commented, “The summit was the best training event I have attended in the last five years. Hearing it straight from Google’s best people, combined with several outstanding guest speakers, made this a top-notch session that gave me several ideas to take-away and implement when I left.”
"It was an intensive learning experience and the dealer participants were outstanding," commented Haystak Digital Marketing founder and CEO Duncan Scarry. "Dealers must thoroughly understand and leverage digital marketing to stay competitive and succeed as automotive consumers spend more and more time using online sources to make purchase decisions. Everyone at Google was incredibly welcoming and the Mountain View corporate headquarters provided the perfect learning environment."
With the success of the event, plans for next year's Digital Summit are in the making. Details will be announced early in 2013.
