The U.S. Department of Energy's Argonne National Laboratory has acquired Freeslate high throughput research products to enable dramatic gains in their R&D productivity and innovation, Freeslate announced today. The Freeslate solutions in material synthesis and testing are expected to significantly enhance research in several key programs in the areas of catalysis, materials and energy.

“We are committed to driving innovation in our laboratories,” said Emilio Bunel, director of the Chemical and Engineering Sciences Division at Argonne. “We are optimistic that the purchase of Freeslate products will be helpful to our scientists working in a range of important research areas.”

“We are very pleased with our developing relationship with Argonne National Laboratory in this important step in accelerating their research programs,” commented John S. Senaldi, CEO of Freeslate. “Freeslate has initiated many important collaborations with leading academic and government laboratories and is committed to delivering high throughput research solutions to the non-profit market sector.”

Freeslate products are designed to accelerate innovation by screening a broader experimental space with hundreds of catalysts, limiting simplifying assumptions and delivering non-intuitive results. Freeslate’s solutions for Argonne include the supported Metal Impregnation System (MIPS) and the Screening Pressure Reactor (SPR) products. These products enable high throughput development of heterogeneous catalysts in relevant industries including refining, petrochemicals, and biorenewables. Freeslate’s team of application scientists and engineers collectively apply decades of hands-on catalyst development experience and proven expertise, maximizing the value of the high throughput research solutions offered.
