A new national multi-charity clothes donation scheme called Click Collection has been launched. It lets anyone help potentially any charity by securely donating unwanted clothes. Click Collection picks them up from home and sells them for the charity chosen by the donor in the online shop. It costs nothing, and the convenient and safe process avoids the risks of theft and fraud that cost UK charities £millions each year.
Click Collection could change the way people donate clothes and buy from charity shops. Unusually it is a multi-charity scheme open to all UK charities. Even charities without shops can now raise funds by retailing donated clothes online. Rather than each charity running their own shop, costs are minimised by the combined online operation. To start with six charities are involved, covering children’s charities to international development, but more will be added over coming months. If a donor wants to support a charity that has not signed up Click Collection will invite them to join.
The multi-charity Click Collection online clothes shop displays all the various charities’ clothes side by side. This makes it easier for customers to find what they want. With strong demand for pre-owned clothes, Click Collection aims to become the destination of choice for UK bargain hunters, generating substantial revenues for participating charities without the investment or hassle of running their own scheme.
Click Collection also pays Reward Points to donors in proportion to the retail value of donations. These are spent in the online shop to get discounts of up to 50% on any order – even items already discounted. This makes a change of style easy and inexpensive.
Click Collection includes special features to help shoppers. Because each item is a donated ‘one-off’, 30 minutes Reservation is activated when an item is put into the ‘Basket’, so that shopping can be finished without someone else getting it first. And if a shopper can’t find what they want, filling out the My Shopper means they get an email the moment something suitable comes into stock. Both make charity shopping easier for customers.
Click Collection uses a secure courier process so donors can be confident that their donated goods get to the right place. The simple process starts with ordering a free bag on the site, filling it with clothes suitable for resale, choosing the charity to benefit and booking a free collection on a suitable day. Each bag is bar-coded and the courier comes to the door to pick it up, so it won’t get lost.
Click Collection is totally transparent and each user account later shows exactly how much the donations made for the charity and how many Reward Points were earned. As well as having a strong ethics policy, Click Collection is very green organisation, with nothing going to landfill.
