Swank HealthCare is proud to announce its new interactive online training tool for hospitals. The HCAHPS Performance Improvement Series is a convenient and effective training tool designed to help hospitals improve their performance on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Health Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey. Swank HealthCare and Custom Learning Systems (CLS) have partnered to develop this series, which consists of nine modules, each with a focus on key aspects of HCAHPS. It is designed for all hospital staff, to help organizations improve performance on the mandatory Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) HCAHPS survey.

The HCAHPS survey is the first national, standardized, publicly reported survey of patients' perspectives of hospital care. The survey asks discharged patients to rate their care experience, which includes 22 core questions about: communication with nurses and doctors, the responsiveness of hospital staff, the cleanliness and quietness of the hospital environment, pain management, communication about medicines, discharge information, overall rating of the hospital and would they recommend the hospital to family and friends. It is critical for hospitals to educate their entire staff to improve the patient experience and maximize reimbursement tied to HCAHPS performance by CMS.

Swank HealthCare, a leading provider of online courses and e-learning software for healthcare workers and hospital administrators, and Custom Learning Systems, a leader in on-site training, coaching and service excellence education in the healthcare industry, developed this highly-anticipated series to provide hospitals and their employees an effective, easy-to-use online tool to help build and sustain a winning patient experience.

“We have made it a part of our mission to be on the leading edge of change as it relates to HCAHPS and Value Based Purchasing,” said CLS’s Founder, Brian Lee. “Swank HealthCare and CLS are an ideal partnership of experts who are knowledgeable in e-learning and experts who are knowledgeable on HCAHPS and VBP, the fact that we have been able to collaborate and jointly work together is an answer that a lot of HealthCare Administrators are going to be looking for.”

Focusing on key aspects of HCAHPS, the modules enable hospitals to train their entire staff on easy-to-use strategies known to have a positive impact on patients’ perceptions of care experience. These perceptions are critical for achieving positive HCAHPS results and maximum reimbursement from CMS.

The modules are distributed online through Swank HealthCare’s Learning Management System (LMS), offering clients quick and easy access to course information through a convenient online learning format. This series is a perfect complement to on-site training and is extremely effective for new employee orientation programs.

“The HCAHPS Performance Improvement Series is an important and critical addition to our course library,” added Tim Swank, Chairman of Swank HealthCare. “We are always seeking new content that will be of added value to our customers. We want to help our customers in any way we can, so they can concentrate on their daily tasks of providing the best possible patient care.”

The HCAHPS Performance Improvement Series includes nine interactive modules to mirror each of the HCAHPS domains:
