Experience underwater pitch, roll, and yaw with Reef Surfer

Underwater Reef Surfer, Inc. (Reef Surfer), developer of the world’s first towable, manually operated dual axis dive plane allowing divers and snorkelers the ability to control both pitch and roll underwater at various speeds and depths, announced it has received notice of acceptance of a U.S. Patent for it’s unique product line. The issuance of this patent constitutes a significant testimony for Reef Surfer’s innovative navigational features and functionality.

Reef Surfer originally introduced the world to Underwater Reef Surfing in 2005 and is the worldwide leader in Reef Surfing equipment sales. Company founders Paul Tosch and Mark Queen are two pioneers of Reef Surfing and are recognized for creating the sport. Tosch is a long time aerospace industry developer and Queen is a free diving, water sports enthusiast.

The Reef Surfer underwater dive plane is comprised of a central rotating hub, two rotating wing holders on either side, and wings attached to the wing holders. The attachment is accomplished by a threaded bolt inserted through the center of the central rotating hub and through the center of the wing holders in a way that permits the wing holders to rotate around the threaded bolt. A towrope threaded through a hole in the central rotating hub leads to a watercraft and allows towing a person holding onto the dive plane. The rotating wings allow the diver to control the angle and direction of the ride.

What sets Reef Surfer apart from other products in the category is its dedication to high quality manufacturing details like high performance wing shapes, blade profiles, angle stops, buoyancy levels, portability (fits in a carry-on disassembled), and it’s proprietary acrobatic towable dive wing that makes the underwater adventures safe and memorable. Special attention was made on all Reef Surfer products to completely eliminate rigging loops from getting caught in the Reef.

"This patent is a valuable step for us as we introduce the underwater dive plane to water sports enthusiasts" said Paul Tosch, Co-founder of Underwater Reef Surfer. "It is our central hub technology that makes controlled underwater acrobatics possible while helping to protect the reef environment”.
