Victory for Eyeglass.com

Eyeglass.com is pleased to announce that they have become an authorized dispenser for Victory optical. Victory has two eyewear lines, Heritage and Inspired, both vintage eyeglasses with a unique history. Eyeglass.com (http://eyeglass.com/), is a leading online optical dispenser of prescription eyewear since 1995 and specializes in unique and hard to find eyewear. Victory and Eyeglass.com are collaborating to bring quality unique eyewear direct to consumers.
Jim Morrison, founder of eyeglass.com, was at a trade show when he saw a line of optical frames he knew were perfect for his site. Victory was a funky, retro line with styles from the forties and fifties. He recognized right away that the Victory styles are not just updated versions of old designs but rather the frames are manufactured to be identical to models from the forties and fifties.
As cool as the frames were, what Jim really liked was the story. Victory was a frame company started in 1941 back when eyeglasses were actually made in the US. Almost all frame manufacturers were from Massachusetts, grown around the factories of American Optical and other manufacturing towns like Newark, NJ. Like AO and hundreds of small manufacturers, Victory went out of business in the 1980's. That is, until the current owner, William Marfuggi and grandson of Victory founder, Vincent J. Salierno, discovered original styles in an attic and decided the time was right to bring them back to market.
Here is the great part! William didn't have all the original styles but in his search, he found the exact frames on the vintage section of eyeglass.com, some of the pieces dating back 60 years and still in original packaging. Not knowing they would meet later, William ordered his grandfather's old frames from eyeglass.com and used them as models for reproduction - exact reproduction.
Due to Jim and William’s newfound partnership, the entire line of frames and sunglasses are now on eyeglass.com in the Victory Collection department, making eyeglass.com the largest online seller of Victory frames. When Jim told his father about the coincidence with Victory, Dr. Robert J. Morrison, a leading optometrist and co-patent holder of the soft lens, now retired, said, "Mr. Salierno, I remember him. He called on my practice. We were a good customer in the fifties... see if his son will give you the family discount." The Internet may seem to be full of businesses less than 10 years old but this alliance goes back through time to generations past.
