Dr. Susan Dorfman, Chief Marketing & Innovation Officer for CMI / Compas, has been asked to present her dissertation poster at the National Patient Safety Foundation’s 14th Annual Patient Safety Congress, which will be held May 23-25 at the Gaylord National Hotel and Conference Center in Washington, D.C.
The NPSF Patient Safety Congress is organized by leaders in the field to provide real-world tools, resources, and evidence-based solutions for patient safety issues. Dr. Dorfman will be among these leaders to present her poster “How Does the Internet Impact Our Healthcare?” The poster explores the potential ramifications of Internet health assessment tools and how to ensure the health needs and optimal outcomes of consumers.
Key highlights of Dr. Dorfman’s research include:
- The Internet is a key source for the dissemination of health care information and patient empowerment and support.
- The Internet can negatively impact consumer health behaviors and outcomes due to wrong or misleading information, self-diagnosis, or delayed treatment.
- There is a need for greater physician involvement and regulatory oversight.
