We are happy that strides are being made in green business and to have participated in Earth Day on John Muir's birthday

ECOMULCH, a sustainable company located in Martinez, is now carrying Sonoma Valley Organic Soil, which is OMRI certified. Sonoma Valley Organic Soil is a fully amended compost soil, fortified with bat guano and worm castings. The organic soil is a ready-to-plant soil, specially formulated for vegetables. ECOMULCH also has new compost that it is sourcing from Recology, a company that composts lawn trimmings and food scraps from San Francisco restaurants and homes.

In addition, ECOMULCH recently participated in Earth Day 2012 with the John Muir Association; with proceeds donated to the conservation of natural resources.

"We are happy that strides are being made in green business and to have participated in Earth Day on John Muir's birthday,” ECOMULCH’s Paula Burke said. “There were lots of fun activities for people of all ages...and helpful tips on how to be green every day."

ECOMULCH is also proud to announce that it is now being sold at Lyngso in the South Bay and Brickyard in Concord, in addition to its retail location in Martinez. The Martinez location is now open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Moreover, ECOMULCH is now carrying a variety of chicken feeds for chicks all the way to “all flock.” Offerings include organic and natural lines of feed.

ECOMULCH was founded in 2006, and along with its sister company, Hamilton Tree Service, they began recycling and repurposing local wood debris. Since then, ECOMULCH has diverted approximately 18,000 tons of wooded material that would otherwise be filling up landfills.

"All of our products are earth friendly and person friendly—we repurpose our local woody materials into mulch that is contaminant free and safe for children and pets,” Burke said. “Our products are always natural, always local, and we never use toxic dyes or processing agents.”
