“CDPHP firmly believes that physically and mentally strong workers excel at home, at work, and in life,” said John D. Bennett, MD, president and CEO, CDPHP.

It was another record year for the CDPHP® Workforce Team Challenge, which attracted more than 9,300 runners and walkers representing nearly 450 organizations. The 3.5-mile race, the largest road race between Utica and New York City, took place under sunny skies in downtown Albany on Thursday, May 17. The top male runner, Kevin Treadway of Albany Medical Center, finished the race in 17:17. The top female runner, Anne Benson of GE, finished the race in 20:59.

“CDPHP is thrilled to partner once again with the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club as the title sponsor of the Workforce Team Challenge,” said John D. Bennett, MD, president and CEO, CDPHP. “CDPHP firmly believes that physically and mentally strong workers excel at home, at work, and in life,” added Bennett.

The event is organized by, and serves as the major fundraiser for, the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club (HMRRC), a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization that was incorporated in 1971 and is one of the largest running clubs in the nation with more than 2,000 members throughout the Capital Region. Since 1981, this fundraiser has helped to underwrite HMRRC’s many activities and services, including scholarships to college-bound high school seniors, grants for youth running programs, seminars and clinics for runners, 30 other local running events throughout the year, and a monthly running magazine, The Pacesetter.

“Each year this race gets bigger and better!” said Mike Rabideau, race director. “I want to thank CDPHP and our other corporate sponsors for their support. I also want to congratulate the team captains, runners, walkers, and volunteers for their efforts in making this yet another successful Workforce Team Challenge,” added Rabideau.

Each year, HMRRC selects a “charity of choice” and encourages sponsors and participants to support the organization by adding a contribution to their race fee. This year, HMRRC selected two “charities of choice,” including Schoharie Recovery, Inc., which was created in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene, and Senior Services of Albany, which enhances the lives of seniors and caregivers in the Capital Region by fostering independence.
