Affiliated Auctions, North Florida & South Georgia's Premier auction house, will host an auction event on Sunday, June 3rd, 2012 with bidding starting at 11AM. This auction promises to have something for everyone. Highlights of the sale include the Gar Wood collection, exquisite jewelry, numerous Rolex watches, 18th and 19th century historical portraiture, a 1966 Cadillac Coupe de Ville convertible, and much more.

Garfield Wood (American, 1880-1971), notable speed boat racer and inventor, reshaped boat racing throughout the 1920s and 30s. Known for setting speed boat racing records, Wood and his son Gar Wood Jr. were awarded numerous trophies and prizes. Affiliated Auctions will be auctioning off Wood’s Moreau’s La Paloma Presentation bronze, Barclay’s Spirit of Speed bronze trophy, family photographs, and other personal possessions. The feature highlight of this historic collection is Gar Wood’s pair of teddy bears. Kept for good luck, and considered the “Captains of his fate” by Wood, “Teddy” and “Bruin” were tied to the engines of each boat he raced, and remained among his most treasured possessions for the remainder of his life. This museum quality collection gives collectors the rare opportunity to own a piece of both speed boat and American history.

The sale also features high end jewelry including a brilliant round cut diamond ring featuring over two carats of diamonds, numerous estate pieces including several from a prominent Atlanta doctor, and much more. Bidders will have a chance to own a stunning 18 karat white gold, tanzanite, and diamond pendant, perfect for that special someone. Numerous Rolex watches will be auctioned including a Men's Rolex Oyster-Perpetual GMT Master II watch. Timepiece collectors will also enjoy the 18th century sterling silver Markham Fusee pocket watch up for auction. Numismatic and precious metal collectors will be excited to bid on the first strike gold NGC 2006 four coin set and the 1871 to 1921 complete set of Morgan silver dollars to be auctioned.

Fine art enthusiasts will enjoy the large collection of artworks included in the sale. Participants can bid on original pieces by a variety of artists including Chaes Warren Eaton (America 1857-1937), Lucien Pissaro (French, 1863-1944), Robert Indiana (American, 1928-), Philip Evergood (American 1901-1983), and Isabella Walker (American, 1901-1987). Art connoisseurs will also be interested in the large collection of 18th and 19th century historical portraiture from a Georgia antique dealer’s estate. The collection includes a portrait of Scottish Captain Alexander Macpherson, believed to have been Napoleon’s bodyguard for a period, and a portrait by notable British painter George Hall Neale.

Car lovers will want to bid on the almost pristine 1966 Cadillac Coupe de Ville convertible up for auction. The convertible includes everything from the original floor mats to its original spare tire, still in usable condition. The engine was refinished about ten years ago and is in good working condition. More auction highlights include Australian Lunar two ounce fine silver coins, signed Lundberg Favrille art glass lamps, Persian rugs, and a Chris Craft aquahome.

Preview will take place Monday through Friday, May 28th through June 1st, 9 am to 5 pm. Affiliated Auctions and Reality is located at 2500 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, FL 32301.
