If politicians can learn anything from Stephen Colbert, it’s that there’s nothing more important than dressing to impress for each and every public appearance.

Bows-n-Ties.com, a well-known online shop offering men’s ties, has named Stephen Colbert the #1 best-dressed news anchor in a recently published article. The article highlights 3 individuals who are known for their keen fashion sense, with Colbert securing the number one spot based upon his work on The Colbert Report.
“Anyone who pays close attention to modern-day men’s fashion knows that there are some exceptionally-dressed TV personalities out there,” says Bows-n-Ties.com owner Hendrik Pohl. “We wanted to focus specifically on television news anchors, as a lot of people tune into these men on a nightly basis. While there are plenty of anchors on TV at the moment who have a strong handle on how to dress well, it’s difficult to argue against Stephen Colbert taking the number one spot.
In the piece, Colbert is celebrated mainly for the Brooks Brothers suits that he wears nightly on The Colbert Report. Attention is also brought to the fact that the anchor also tends to wear “American” colors; deep, bold reds and navy blue suits are both considered to be cornerstones of his look.
“One of the greatest things about The Colbert Report is the schtick that has been trademark of the show since it first aired,” says Pohl. “Even though the colors Colbert tends to wear are likely chosen to feed into the premise of the character he plays, he makes them work in a way that appears to be effortless. If politicians can learn anything from Stephen Colbert, it’s that there’s nothing more important than dressing to impress for each and every public appearance.”
In addition to Stephen Colbert, 2 other popular news anchors were chosen to be part of the “best-dressed” list. NBC’s Brian Williams (host of The Nightly News) made the list for his penchant for wearing flat-fronted trousers rather than pleats, as well as his attention-grabbing striped ties. CNN’s Anderson Cooper also gets a mention for his perfectly-cut Ralph Lauren suits and short, cropped hairstyle.
“If we had chosen to expand the list, we could easily have added a few more anchors that look nothing but their best each time they hit the airwaves,” says Pohl. “Sticking with just three individuals, however, Colbert, Williams and Cooper were all fairly clear-cut choices for us in publishing this piece.”
