“We felt that there should be an organization that supports and advances the community of live show and event production people as a whole,” said Greg Fox, LSPGA’s President.
Orlando, FL (PRWEB) May 30, 2012
Live show and event coordinators, managers, and producers across North America can rejoice today as Orlando-based organization, the Live Show Producers Guild of America (LSPGA), is now officially open for business, it was announced today.
The LSPGA represents the interests of all laborers, craftsman, and associates of the live show & event production community in North America. The organization, founded by a core group of seasoned industry professionals who have produced everything from Justin Bieber to the Olympic Ceremonies, saw a need to support the thousands of experienced professionals – from Assistant Stage Managers to Executive Producers -- who were previously unrepresented.
“We felt that there should be an organization that supports and advances the community of live show and event production people as a whole,” said Greg Fox, LSPGA’s President. “There’s an entire industry of skilled professionals who work day-to-day that don’t have the advantages of a sponsoring organization dedicated to furthering their collective efforts.”
The guild, which provides its membership with access to group discounted health benefits, insurance, education, recognition and support, is now accepting new members.
“So many of us are traveling freelancers or consultants, creating events on the road seven days a week,” said Fox. “We are encouraging our brothers and sisters, who make their living in the live show industry, to become members of the guild, and help us all support each other.”
In addition to the wide range of member benefits offered, The LSPGA also provides an Online Event Resource Database on its website, which provides members with access to last-minute or emergency resources and contacts to address any live production needs or issues, or to source elements for future productions.
“One of our goals is to provide our members with a set of standards by which to produce live shows. Anybody familiar with live events can tell you that anything that can go wrong, will,” smiles Fox. “So, we think this resource database will be pretty popular.”
The LSPGA will also strive to protect its members by ensuring that live show professionals are vetted, qualified and experienced in their fields, in part through the LSPGA ongoing education program.
“The LSPGA stamp of approval will accomplish two things -- provide a level of credibility for our members, and a level of confidence for clients seeking the best event producers and crew," continued Fox.
Live show and event industry professionals can apply for membership by visiting http://www.LSPGA.org. Membership in the LSPGA is subject to approval only after validation of the credentials submitted by the applicant.
