Quench-Kleen 5343 from Houghton International is a low-residue alkaline spray cleaner specifically formulated for heat-treating applications. It presents no barrier to subsequent coating processes or welding, and it is proven to be a safe and cost-effective alternative to solvent emulsion cleaners.
Quench-Kleen 5343 is ideal for removing shop soils such as quenching oils, soluble coolant cutting oils and metal forming compounds. The cleaner excels at removing quench oils by splitting them out of metalworking solution in single- or multi-stage washing equipment. It is also effective in spray washers with high-pressure nozzles operating at pressures of 40 to 250 psi.
The non-foaming action of Quench-Kleen 5343 provides short-term, in-plant protection against corrosion. It is strong enough to clean most ferrous alloys, but it is less volatile than other cleaners because it is a non-monoethanolamine (MEA), non-nitrited fluid. Users can clean surfaces as warm as 170 degrees Fahrenheit with no harmful effects to work staff or the environment.
