Tarps and canopy companies team up to donate time and products for the Los Angeles homeless this Thanksgiving.

Ace Canopy and Tarps Plus are in the forefront of helping those less fortunate. This fall they will return to the Los Angeles mission for the tarp donation of 2012. This event is planned for this coming Thanksgiving, which is on November 22nd.

This is an annual event for the company, as they provide these services to the homeless each year. Not only will they be helping the homeless in Los Angeles, but they are providing donations in several major cities across the United States this fall.

Tarps Plus representative Steve Benson says, "The tarps and canopies are just a small gesture, although people are very appreciative to get them, we get just as much giving them out."

The 2011 tarp drive provided more than two thousand people with a protective cover. This event was celebrated on Thanksgiving Day at the mission. Mayor Villaraigosa was also in attendance. It was very important for people living on the streets to have some kind of warm protection, and the covers provided a great deal of comfort and relief from the elements.

The tarp drive is greatly anticipated this season, as the need seems to increase with each passing year. A cover is very important for someone that has nowhere to go. In the winter months it is very easy to become cold and succumb to hypothermia. Many people cannot get out of the cold, and this may be due to physical or mental disabilities. Most shelters may keep them warm during the night. However, at daybreak they must find somewhere else to go and it may still be very cold.

A hot meal will feed a homeless person for one day. It is an important part of the holiday season. However, a warm and protective cover can help a homeless person for the entire winter. Ace Canopy and Tarps Plus are inviting other companies to join them in their generosity. The homeless need far more things besides tarps. The company also plans to be in Washington D. C., Chicago, and New York City, this holiday season.
