Buckeye Vodka launches first statewide charitable initiative for veterans with Facebook "Like" campaign. The company pledged up to $10,000.00 to qualifying veterans' groups in Ohio.

Buckeye Vodka has pledged up to $10,000 to local veterans' charities in honor of Memorial Day. To participate, individuals are asked to “Like” the Buckeye Vodka page on Facebook between Monday, May 28 and Friday, June 1, 2012. For each new “Like,” the company will donate $0.50, up to $10,000.

“We recognize the sacrifice our veterans and their families have made to protect the freedom we enjoy in our country. We’re proud to help local veterans’ groups in providing important services to those affected by the loss of a loved one in the United States Armed Services,” said Jim Fink, CEO of Crystal Spirits, LLC, parent company of Buckeye Vodka.

In addition to “Liking” the page, visitors to the Buckeye Vodka Facebook page may suggest veterans' organizations to which Buckeye Vodka can contribute. All organizations will be considered for a gift, but the company said it cannot guarantee a distribution for each and every entry.

“Loyal customers from every corner of the state have made Buckeye Vodka the #1 selling Ohio-based spirit in the state. We’d like to share this pledge with as many organizations throughout Ohio as possible and encourage everyone to visit our Facebook page and participate,” Finke commented.

Since first hitting the shelves in April 2011, Buckeye Vodka has stressed the importance of helping Ohioans. The company cites a $1.08 million contribution to the Ohio economy through purchases and related tax revenue. Additionally, Buckeye Vodka credits its marketing efforts in areas around the state for helping maintain or create jobs in Ohio, though total figures were not disclosed.

The Memorial Day campaign on Facebook is the company’s first statewide charitable initiative.
