Maple Family Centers of Rockville Center (RVC LANES), Queens (JIB LANES) and Farmingdale (FARMINGDALE LANES) have launched XBowling, an APP that allows bowlers to compete against others virtually through a smartphone. Whether it’s a car ride away or a flight overseas, the APP and Maple Family Centers hope to bring smiles to faces while those partaking in this popular multi-age sport keep score and compete.

“You can compete against family and friends or people anywhere in the world. You can bowl at different times, it doesn’t matter. You can also compete against yourself,” explains Joe LaSpina, vice president of Maple Family Centers.

Maple Family Centers, a Long Island-based, family-owned chain of five bowling centers is the first in the state to launch XBowling, an app designed to connect bowlers with each other, enable players to build personalized social experiences and participate in new types of challenges all during gameplay.

Free to download, XBowling is currently available for Apple iOS and Google Android devices, enabling bowlers to connect and compete from any XBowling-enabled center to any other XBowling-enabled center.

“You can compete against family and friends or people anywhere in the world. You can bowl at different times, it doesn’t matter. You can also compete against yourself,” explains Joe LaSpina, vice president of Maple Family Centers.

Your personal XBowling account keeps all your vital stats so you have the data to back up your bragging rights. You can enter challenges, such as getting three strikes in a row, pick-up a spare, or predict your final game score. Each time you enter a challenge, you are eligible to win extra points. To keep motivated, check your rank on the leader board. If you know a friend will be bowling at an XBowling enabled center, you can sign in to your XBowling account to watch their frame-by-frame scores and more.

“When you go head-to-head against your friends and you bowl today, well tomorrow when they bowl, they will only see what you bowled the first frame after they bowl their first frame,” explains LaSpina. “It’s a fun way to compete and to stay in touch.”

In the future, there will be celebrity challenges where you can challenge a celebrity and enter-to-win tickets to that celebrity’s concert, for example.

Currently, XBowling is available at three Maple Centers, in Rockville Center, Farmingdale and Jib Lanes in Queens. Maple plans to expand to its other two centers soon.
