The strategic support we will receive through the program will help to hone our critical decision-making skills as we strategize about future distribution partners, next generation product development, and management recruitment.

Gust, the global investor relations platform integrating essential collaboration tools for both entrepreneurs and investors, and Astia, a not-for-profit dedicated to the success of women-led, high-growth ventures, announced that the winners of their International Women’s Day Scholarship are Life Medical Technologies, Inc. and Angaza Design. Life Medical Technologies produce a non-invasive, low-cost, single use, breast cancer detection device, and Angaza Design is an international social venture creating technology solutions for emerging markets. Both companies will receive a full scholarship to Astia’s renowned Global Entrepreneur Program.

“We are honored to win the Gust and Astia International Women's Day Scholarship. The timing could not be better for Life Medical to be involved in the Astia program, as we prepare for the manufacturing and launch of BreastCare DTS™,” said Carol Fitzgerald, CEO of Life Medical Technologies, Inc. “The strategic support we will receive through the program will help to hone our critical decision-making skills as we strategize about future distribution partners, next generation product development, and management recruitment—all elements that are vital to the success of our company.”

"I am honored to have been selected for the Gust and Astia International Women's Day Scholarship to help further Angaza's work in designing solutions to increase energy access in rural areas of the developing world,” said Lesley Silverthorn, CEO of Angaza Design. “As a design engineer turned entrepreneur, I have been using Gust for the last several years and now look forward to becoming a part of the Astia network to learn from other women entrepreneurs, mentors, and investors to help build Angaza into a global company that impacts millions of lives."

Astia’s Global Entrepreneur Program is a week-long program providing women leaders an opportunity to achieve high-growth. After most incubators have become irrelevant, Astia kicks into high-gear. Benefits include access to the global community of entrepreneurs, investors, industry leaders, strategic guidance, and high-level introductions, along with the opportunity to engage with and learn from a global cadre of exceptional entrepreneur peers.

The program also includes candid discussions led by active investors and seasoned entrepreneurs, and is followed by a three-month advisory period during which companies are paired with a team of advisors. Additionally, participating startups receive:

o    High-touch, customized advisory services focused on high-growth and driving to exit
o    Access to VCs and angel investors
o    Expert advice by a team of current and former CEOs, VCs, angels and successful entrepreneurs
o    Presentation skills coaching by leading experts

“We congratulate Life Medical Technologies, Inc. and Angaza Design, and hope that their participation in Astia’s Global Entrepreneur Program will arm them with meaningful support and the tools necessary to bring their high-potential enterprises to the next level,” said Ilana Grossman, CMO at Gust. “By investing in the development of women leaders, we are contributing to a significant and measurable benefit to the economy, future innovation, and society.”

“We had a tremendous response to the inaugural scholarship program with Gust. We thank and congratulate all the entrepreneurs for applying. Due to the high volume of applicants, the selection process was difficult as there were many qualified companies,” said Jen Shelby, VP of Client Services at Astia.

The selection process was conducted by a panel of judges composed of seasoned angel investors, prominent businesswomen from the early stage investing community, as well as Astia’s selection committee.
