[The] investment program is unique in that it is not driven exclusively by technical systems or by economic forecasting models, but a systematic combination of both.

Halbert Wealth Management, Inc. (HWM) is pleased to announce that the System Research long-term Treasury bond strategy will now be offered through the Equity Alternative Program. Equity Alternative joins HWM’s list of recommended actively managed investment strategies within its innovative AdvisorLink® Program.

HWM President and CEO, Gary Halbert, commented, “Total returns on Treasury bonds have actually outpaced stocks over the last 30 years. With interest rates now at historic lows, there should be ample opportunities for gain on the short side when, and not if, rates start to creep higher. We see Equity Alternative as a way to potentially have the best of both worlds by being able to be long Treasury bonds during times of global uncertainty, short T-bonds when interest rates begin to rise, or more neutral during periods of high yield volatility.”

About AdvisorLink®: System Research is the latest addition to HWM’s AdvisorLink® Program which features a collection of investment strategies offered by independent, third-party money managers. HWM selects professional money managers to participate in AdvisorLink® based on a proprietary screening and due diligence process designed to bring top quality managers to the attention of its clients. All AdvisorLink® programs employ active money management strategies with the goal of boosting returns and/or reducing market risk as compared to index-based buy-and-hold strategies.

About System Research, LLC: Located in White Plains, NY, System Research was founded by Vinay Munikoti who also serves as its Portfolio Manager. Originally educated as a mechanical engineer, Munikoti soon found his interests gravitating toward managing money. He went back to school to get his M.S. in Financial Engineering and then began working to develop a quantitative system for managing 30-Year Treasury bonds.

Munikoti employs a quantitative, multi-model approach with each of four sub-models generating its own directional score that are aggregated to determine each individual trade. Most interesting, however, is his proprietary “flight to quality” indicator that seeks to measure market uncertainty to help anticipate safe-haven purchases of Treasury bonds. The Equity Alternative trading model is 100% mechanical with no allowance for discretion to modify its signals. Administration and trading are handled by Purcell Advisory Services, a Registered Investment Advisor located in Tacoma, WA.

Since its inception in 2007, the System Research Equity Alternative Program has outperformed both stock and Treasury bond benchmarks in terms of annualized returns and risk management (as measured by monthly drawdown). Of course, favorable future returns are not guaranteed.

”Unlike passive buy-and-hold or strategic asset allocation models, my methodology is active and oriented more towards trading, attempting to capture market movements dynamically,” noted Munikoti. “The System Research investment program is unique in that it is not driven exclusively by technical systems or by economic forecasting models, but a systematic combination of both.”

About Halbert Wealth Management, Inc.: HWM is an SEC Registered Investment Advisor located in Austin, Texas. HWM’s underlying investment philosophy is that individual investors should be able to enjoy the same advantages as large, institutional investors like foundations, endowments and pension funds. These sophisticated investors recognize the need to diversify into alternative strategies that actively manage assets rather than simply buying and holding.

Since 1995, HWM has offered clients access to a wide spectrum of specialized money managers that employ a variety of active management strategies. Many of these money managers are smaller, boutique firms that might never gain investor visibility if not for being included in HWM’s flagship AdvisorLink® Program.
