Company Adds to Existing Capabilities for Hedge Fund-Related Litigation Services

SFC Associates, a securities and financial litigation consultancy, has expanded its hedge fund-related litigation capabilities with the addition of two affiliates, Hugh Cohen and Leon Metzger.

The two respected experts join SFC Associates’ existing affiliates network and its professional staff — including founder and President Ezra Zask — to enhance the company’s position at the forefront of hedge fund-related litigation consulting services. SFC Associates’ expertise includes such areas as hedge fund valuation, suitability and due diligence, as well as other operational matters. Zask, who has been engaged with the hedge fund industry as a manager, consultant and litigation expert for more than 20 years, is the author of the forthcoming second edition of “All About Hedge Funds,” to be published by McGraw-Hill.

“I am very pleased to welcome to our team these exceptional individuals, who bring years of experience in the hedge fund industry,” said Zask. “In line with what we seek in all our affiliates and employees, these individuals combine the rigor and discipline of academic research with practical experience in hedge funds and the larger asset management industry.”

Brief biographies of the new affiliates follow:

Hugh Cohen, an Adjunct Professor in the Goizueta Business School at Emory University, has managed three hedge funds and served as Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, where he oversaw the financial team. Professor Cohen has been engaged in more than 40 financial services-related lawsuits and has consulted for Standard & Poor’s and the New York Stock Exchange, as well as such government agencies as the SEC and FBI. Professor Cohen has a Ph.D. and M.S. from Cornell University, both in operations research, and a B.S. in mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Leon Metzger, an Adjunct Professor and Lecturer at New York University and Yale University, is an authority on hedge funds with a track record of testifying or rendering judgment on testimony in more than 30 financial services-related cases. Professor Metzger has testified on hedge fund-related issues before the U.S. House of Representatives on three occasions and has lectured about hedge funds before several government agencies. Professor Metzger was also vice chairman and chief administrative officer of Paloma Partners Management, a provider of services to multi-strategy hedge funds. Professor Metzger has an M.B.A. from Harvard University and a B.S. in economics from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

During the past two years, New York-based SFC Associates has enjoyed robust demand for its services from law firms, corporations and government agencies. In 2011, the company was retained to provide expertise in more than a dozen new cases. In line with that growth, SFC Associates has been ramping up its hiring and expanding its network of affiliates.
