Firstmark Credit Union received a big “Thank You” from San Antonio College students who attended a recent Leadership Retreat. During the retreat, 85 students participated in a number of activities designed to teach teamwork and leadership skills.

“We couldn’t have done this without the support of Firstmark Credit Union,” said Dr. Lucchelli, of the New Student Development Department. “This was the first time we’ve been able to offer an off-campus leadership retreat to our students. It was a valuable learning experience for everyone.”

“To see people take initiative and lead a group in such a strong way was unforgettable,” said Miranda Garcia, student at San Antonio College.

“I learned that for a group to succeed, they have to have a strong leader … that a good leader needs to relate to the team’s needs as well as the goals set before them,” explained Josh Torres, student at San Antonio College.

“We recognize that learning opportunities like this Leadership Retreat have the potential to change lives,” said Fred Hagerman, CMO, Firstmark Credit Union.

The Credit Union’s partnership with the SAC started years ago when Lucchelli asked for planners to help teach students organization and time-management skills. Today, the Credit Union delivers 6,000 planners a year. They also provide financial literacy classes covering topics like managing money, establishing credit, and protecting your identity.
