San Francisco based Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants today announced the hire of Michael Mao, who will serve as Vice President, Acquisitions and Development. Mao will be based in New York and will be responsible for all acquisitions and management contract development in the North East and Midwest. He assumes his role June 1.
Michael brings extensive hospitality acquisition and rebranding experience to the team, in addition to a strong contact base in the Northeast. As former VP of Acquisitions and Finance for Scout Real Estate Capital in New York, Mao was responsible for leading the acquisition efforts to expand the company’s current portfolio. Prior to Scout, Mao was a Regional Vice President with IHG responsible for the brand’s growth initiatives in the Eastern half of the United States. Prior to that he was a Vice President with Lehman Brothers where he gained extensive experience in larger, multi-property acquisitions.
Mao received his bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration from Cornell University.
