So many people take for granted the ability to have children. Seeing these videos really brings to light the heartbreak and pain that comes with infertility, and the depth of these couples' desire to have children.

Sher Fertility Institute announced today that they will be donating free IVF treatment to one couple that submits a video detailing their desires and struggles to have a baby. The contest, entitled the “I Believe Video Journal Project” is part of Sher Fertility Institute’s "Giving Back" initiative, intended to help some of the estimated 1 million couples in the U.S. that need advanced fertility treatment, but can’t afford it. The donated IVF treatment is valued at approximately $12,000.

The contest is open to all those who need In Vitro Fertilization in order to conceive – regardless of whether they already have children. A cross section of doctors, nurses and staff at Sher Fertility Institute will select three finalists, whose videos will be posted on the Institute’s website. Visitors will be able to vote for their favorite beginning on June 8, 2012. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, June 13 – prior to Father’s Day weekend.

“There are so many couples in need of help to conceive, and every one of them has a unique and compelling story,” said Geoffrey Sher, MD, founder and Executive Medical Director of Sher Fertility Institute. “We are happy to be able to help in a small way through this contest.”

Videos submitted should be less than five minutes in length and can be uploaded to the Sher Fertility Institute Facebook page at
