Over 70% of all audits result in finding misclassified workers, and the IRS and EDD prevail in over 90% of cases that go to hearing or trial

The IRS estimates there are over 8 million Independent Contractors in the US and that a large percentage of them should actually be classified as employees. New legislation targeting companies who misclassify workers, combined with increasingly aggressive state and federal agencies who are conducting unprecedented numbers of employer audits, means that businesses need to understand how best to protect themselves from the risks involved in this critical workforce component.

Leading labor law attorney Denis Kenny, together with industry expert Jason Posel, senior vice president of strategy and solutions for ClearPath Workforce Management, will analyze and explain the critical criteria that should be used to determine if a worker should be classified as an Independent Contractor or an employee, and take a look at a number of case studies to give attendees practical insights into how to protect their company. The webinar is titled " Independent Contractor Classification: Recognizing your risks and how to manage them."

"Over 70 percent of all audits result in finding misclassified workers, and the IRS and EDD prevail in over 90 percent of cases that go to hearing or trial," said Jason Posel, senior vice president. "Employers need to look at how they currently deal with independent contractors and implement processes for ensuring compliance with all regulations."
